I'm thinking that it might be the right time to buy a scythe. I've got
1/2 acre or so of good grass seeded that should give a cutting or two
this year. I would rather keep the animals off it until it gets
growing well. I can make hay. I've also got the orchard area seeded to
grass and clover and it's looking decent. A few other odds and ends,
maybe some of the oat/pea planting also could be cut.
I can rig up a hay rake if I can't find one (hand rake), and have a
cart to haul the hay in on. So I'm thinking that a scythe is the best
way to go. Can't afford machines for this project.
I know we've discussed this, but I forget. I'm thinking that a
straight snath is what is easier to work with. What length of scythe
is best for cutting grass/grains?
