In my newest compost pile, less than one year old; in the past week almost a
dozen volunteer tomato plants have popped up, very close to each other. I
guess they are from some of the tyomatoes I picked and they rotted before
they ripend -- I don't know?
I guess I'll find somewhere to transplant them. The stalk s are actually
thicker, and the leaves, healthier looking, than the plants I bought from the
nursery. They are only 3 - 4 inckes tall , so far. I'll leave one or two
in the compost pile, itself, and see what happens.
Myabe this is normal, but I've never had volunteer tomatoes from compost,
before. One year, I had a very nice crop of "small potatoes" from a compost
pile; but never tomatoes. Huh ???
