Lynn,
I agree with your primary premise, we do need to vote right and wrong
rather
than right and left. Yes, corporate influence in our govt. is a dangerous
thing. We
must be willing to accept that many of these corporations give at least as
much
to the Dems as the Reps. Some far more. The Auto worker unions gave all
their
funds and pledged all their votes to the Dems and Pelosi and Obama are both
loudly advocating billions in relief funds for a dinosaur industry with no
stipulations
on improvement. They also want Bush to do it before Obama enters office. Hmm
I would also point out that legislating morals is a two sided issue as well.
If for example
the Dems pass their free choice on abortion including late term, they are
legislating
morals as well. Imagine they legalized killing children up to age 8. Could
you stand
by and watch them line them up? Would you feel morally obligated to stand up
for
them? Probably. By the same token, people who truly believe life begins at
conception
feel obligated morally to stand up against legislation making the killing of
these babies
legal. Their morals are being legislated against.

Bob; I believe in pretty much the same freedoms that you do. I saw many of
them threatened in the past 8 years. I think this election may have been a
turning point of people sick of the status quo, sick of illegal acts by
government against citizens, sick of more and more tracking and
restrictions, sick of groups trying to legislate (their) morality on
everyone and take away even more personal freedoms. Obama was the only
reasonable alternative and I'm willing to give him a chance. In a couple
years, I might be complaining about him...but I'm going to wait for him to
DO something before I start criticizing.

I think we have bigger problems in this country than left/right. The
corportate control of the government (Monsanto, phamaceuticals, finance) is
what is going to deprive all of us of our rights, our money, our freedoms,
our health. I just read a comment somewhere that said that we, as a country,
have to stop questioning if something is 'right or left' and start
questioning whether it's right or wrong.
