A long-distance marriage can work fine. My sister lives on the family
farm and her husband lives and works about 60 miles away. They've been
doing this for a year, and seem fine with it. He goes to the farm on
weekends (and is really getting to enjoy it -- it's quiet and
beautiful and a quarter of a mile from the road -- and she goes to
town on occasion. She says she sees about as much of him as she ever
did, and they talk at least daily on the phone.
The arrangement seems to be working just fine. He gets to go out and
listen to music as many nights a week, and she has her garden and her
outdoor projects.
