The state and the feds take over because the fires started in National forests and state forests. THEY decided they were in charge, not the local fire agencies. THEY decided that "our" *local* resources (helicopters and boray bombers) and fire fighters were needed down south where all the rich folks were and that their homes were more important than our being able to breath.

They get blamed because they shut down the fire fighter camps and they get blamed because the *local* National Guard who used to help with fires are all now in Iraq!

But, other than that, no big deal.

Lynda, rather confused that what started out as a rant because my garden is dying has turned into politics. Who thought she might get an offer of a tomato or two <g>

Lightning started those fires, so where exactly does the government get
involved in the "blamestream"? I wonder how Obama would handle those fires
differently? He'll most likely harness lightning to end our energy crisis,
eliminating wildfires as a delightful byproduct.

I think it's best left blamed on Ba'al, in this case Hadad.
