As I was shopping in the market in Gainesville I realized I was doing what so
many accuse outsiders of doing. I was looking for the fresh salsa, garlic
hummus, fresh chilies, and thinking what kind of place is this that does not
have those basic food items. How can one enjoy a beer ( that takes a special
order) without something to burn the tongue?

Then I realized that we are homesteaders, able to do for ourselves, to rise
the any occasion, make do or do without. So by looking at the Internet I
found several recipes that look very doable with some substitutions. So now
I throw this to the ever resourceful homestead list members. What are your
favorite salsa Fresca recipes keeping in mind that though the gardens may be
full of tomatoes and Garlic, the stores do not maintain a stock of fresh
Serrano Chilies or Cilantro.

By the way I was suitable chastised for driving in the ruts, actually just
bare places where the grass does not grow, and did not hear (many) complaints
when I drove us to town the other day. Maybe there was one when I almost run
a stop sign with the cop car in view.

Hey, Booneville Missouri is just up the road a piece. Besides how does a
Tilley hat compare to a Coon Skin cap? I think I will drag out my black
powder rifle and go a coon hunting.
