Probably an apocryphal story; people need to blame someone for their troubles. I have heard it so many times I thought it was true. I remember discussions at pot-lucks and such where the predominant solution was "trap 'em, load 'em up into an eighteen wheeler and let 'em out on the front lawn of the Texas governors mansion."

I am seriously thinking of getting a night vision rifle telescope. Not cheap. The move is to shoot them with a twenty-two, which does not kill them outright (they do jump straight up into the air, which is entertaining) so they go back to their dens and bury themselves. I got real tired of carrying them out away from the house where the buzzards would get to them.
