He sent several to me off-list as well, Lynda. And he thanked us both
when Lee removed him (within about 2 minutes of when I sent her an
email alerting her to the situation). Perhaps someone else added him
or he managed somehow to sign up and couldn't remember how to get off.
It happens, At any rate, he's gone.

His nasty messages were not, of course, appropriate, and gave me the
creeps, especially when they were directed just to me, but oh well --
he's gone now. There are lots of strange people out there, and if we
get exercised about each one we can make our own selves crazy to no
constructive end.

Several years ago when I had an AOL address, my e-mail address was
hijacked by some really nasty person who broadcast emails that
appeared to be from me with attached pictures that the author of the
emails was claiming to be me engaging in amazing sexual feats that I
never had the flexibility to perform even when I was a teenager. I
think animals were also involved.

I got a flood of really nasty replies from people who were insulted
that I would send such stuff. In fact, there replies were so graphic
that I figured they had enjoyed the porn -- at least they took the
time to describe it in detail to me while they cursed me for being a
degenerate. Since at the time, AOL was the only way I had of accessing
the Internet, I was terrified that AOL would toss me off and blacklist
me. Of course, I got on the phone, got the situation straightened out,
and returned to normal life. (AOL was amazingly helpful.)

People do strange stuff on the Internet that they wouldn't do in
person. And by now Celia is probably wondering if she should be using
her real name here. <wry grimace>

Marie
