Actually there's a swamp (damp swampy area) about 30' wide and 150' long
above the level of the gardens and is fed by either several small or one
large
spring, can't tell which. One outlet of this spring fills the household
cistern
and the water is pumped 75 higher by means of an ordinary 220v well pump.
It would seem likely that this area could be made into a catchment, if not a
full fledged pond. Water drains out of it all year and even in the worst
droughts. If that should prove possible, it would be damnably convenient.
It is
about 15' higher than the highest point of the highest garden. </HTML>
