That's pretty reasonable. It seems that all the catalogs I get are ripoffs. I was shocked at the Ben Meadows prices.

We'll always need some electricity for lighting and computers and music. We'll also need a few watts to power the solenoid valves.
Water power is also a serious option on my property, but only in winter (when we need the most light). But I don't even know where to buy a generator without a giant Briggs & Stratton stuck onto it.

Last year I bought a 45w system with a couple of flourscent light for
$199.00 at harbor freight http://www.harborfreight.com/ , we used it
with a battery while camping for a week.

I also noticed a cheap wind generator at northern tools
http://www.northerntool.com/ for about $600.00 (Sunforce Wind Generator
- Model# 44444).
