There's a lot of negatives that got rehashed in this thread. I for one am
pleased that Columbus had the courage to seek out a new route, and hence
gave birth to a nation that provided a refuge from tyranny. Sorry, I guess
I'm getting old and I'm weary of hearing the politicized "trash America"
rhetoric. Think I'll go out to the barn and have a intelligent discussion
with my animals:)

Well, I did mean for the betterment of Europe, BUT, hmmmm, lemme think...
I loaned the book to a friend, just called her, and she will be bringing it
back to me tomorrow so I can look up stuff for real, but didn't they bring
horses and citrus to the new world? Pigs? Does that stuff count?
I know you can make an argument that all of those things are destructive
to the ecosystem, but really, any new thing like that would be. It really
is a good book, especially for anyone who likes history.
