I have several dozen cookbooks. Lots of old ones and a bunch translated into English that are from other countries.

I like to gander through them to get ideas and then use DH and kidlets as testers. I had a bunch of little dabs of stuff laying around and wanted to use up all the leftovers, so I looked through some Chinese cookbooks and was thinking about making some potstickers but it was too hot to bother making the dough, so I turned the pot sticker "stuffing" into little meatballs, whipped up some sweet and sour and poured the whole mess over rice. Tossed all the leftover veggies in the wok with some soy sauce, seseme seed oil, cilantro and garlic and voila, a clean fridge and a well-rounded meal.

I'm with ya there...I can't imagine life without cooking either, not
that I enjoy it that much, it's kind of like laundry...it's necessary,
but I do like experimenting with new recipes as that takes the monotony
out of it all.
