Title: Re: [gwl-g] Copyright on germination instructions?
Here is a simple solution to Sheri's problem and one I use often as a magazine editor.  I contact the company or person holding the copyright to material I want to use.  I ask their permission and give them credit in the magazine or on the website.  I've never been turned down.

Usually, a return email granting permission is enough, but I have been asked to sign a permission form a couple of times. Keep a printout of the email and a copy of any signed agreement for your records in case issues arise later.  I've never had this happen, but it's prudent to keep records.

Also, it's common courtesty to send a tearsheet of the printed material that is borrowed or the URL to the website so that the copyright holder has a record.
