The breeder Bill Radler of Milwaukee said it's not necessary to trim Knock Out back to the usual 5 leaves, that the plant will rebloom fine on its own. However, it's fine to pinch off spent flower buds if you want to keep the plant looking neat, he said. That's what I do. Carolyn Ulrich

I seem to remember a comment buried in one of last year's discussions on another subject about the deadheading of Knock Out roses. My spotty memory recalls that one of the growers/breeders recommended no deadheading as it restricts successive blooming. Am I dreaming or it that in fact the recommended approach to handling this plant?
