Hi Nancy,
Early perennials can be potted up and put in a basement window-well on the
south side of the house (if one is available). If the window well has a
plastic covering that's even better, just remind people that they have to
water the plants. Many times I will also just place the pot along the south
side of my home foundation and cover it with an extra plastic window well
cover.
