I prefer using a pencil either on a metal label or on rigid plastic...but several years ago we did a two year trial of the laminated tape use in the Brother label makers. We trialed the black type on white tape and black type on clear tape. The labels were done in 28pt. and taped to 12" by 1" plastic garden markers. The labels outlasted the plastic markers...presumably because the markers degraded in the UV.
