My comment re inadequate controls was targeted to garden writers. In the
cases reported on this forum, the "trial" has limited to several, or a few
more, plants.

Worthwhile conclusions aren't based on a "trial" of two tomato plants, even
though one of those plants is a "control."

And even though the two/several plants are said to be "exactly alike."

Beyond that, what works in laboratory trials doesn't always transfer to the
field, the latter gardens and landscapes.

IMHO, the rush to publish is premature based on home garden trials such as
have been described in this forum.

Far too many gardening books, magazines, garden columns, radio and TV shows
are riddled with misinformation. Let's not add to it.
