Nancy,
I have a shade rock garden that runs along a boulder retaining wall. The
yellow corydallis is my favorite. Just plant it at the top and let it self
sow itself into the cracks. Within 3 years I have waves of it.
Other plants that have self sown from the top down through the cracks are
colombines, ajuga, hosta, and viola's.
Looking forward to seeing other replies here.
