The birds in my yard make it thru the winter by hibernating in bad weather
inside the shelter of a very large holly, about 20 ft tall. They feed on the
berries when nothing else is around. They also like to shelter in the
honeysuckle that crawled up and over my back porch fence, and they eat those
berries also. The honeysuckle is invasive, and has to be trimmed back every
year. The holly has never been a problem. I kept the holly because it was a
fantastic windblock in the front of the house, although it needs retrimming
again to shape it this year.
