We battle constant traffic noise pollution so the bird songs are even more precious.

Thanks for all the great suggestions, keep them coming!

How much do you value your hearing, Melanie? Knowing what I now know and having lost my hearing, if I were you, I'd be importing earth to build a noise barrier berm between you and the traffic. I live near the Interstate, and for years the traffic noise wasn't too bad. They raised the speed limit (within city limits) to 65, more people moved in and/or aged to driving age, and it's now a constant roar. Last summer we had friends in for dinner, and after dinner, she turned and said something to me. I saw her lips move, heard not a sound. In a beginning cold sweat, I asked, "Did you say something?" Her lips moved again. Television theme songs were painfully distorted, I couldn't carry on a conversation, and became isolated. I insisted the ear, nose and throat doctor clear me for a hearing aid, and believe me, American technology is nothing to shout about considering my experience with a hearing aid and a prosthesis. Losing my hearing was far more traumatic than having my leg amputated a few years ago (blood clot).
