Stephen,
Peonies can also be tempermental about how deep they
are planted. In
cold climates their eye should be planted 2
inches below the surface of
the soil...in warmer climates less. They like a
really loose soil. They
shouldn't compete with trees for
moisture and they need clear space like
3-4 feet around the plant along
with full sun all day.
