Most gardeners when given a product that claims to work wonders do not set aside a portion of their garden to act as control. We want the benefits for all our harvest. So there is very little true scientific experimentation going on in the home garden.
 
While I have no doubt there is benefit from the mycorrhizal fungi, and Doreen, you've even heard my impassioned lecture at the Philly Flower Show so you  know I am a BIG believer, you really can't claim the mycorrhizal is the reason........YET. Now if you start to get a bunch of mushrooms in the vicinity........
 
As for those ants, they are part of a symbiotic relationship. They are really terrific to observe....I've spent hours looking at them through a macroscope along with the pollen, an experience Lon will soon have!
 
Incidentally, we won't have our first peony flowers up here in Alaska until early August. You guys are lucky!
