I don't think anyone on the list has concrete information about Sybase's
implementation details, Gad. As I understand you, you're seeing a dramatic
decrease using 1) the same client setup, and 2) the same server hardware and
Sybase version. The only change is the server OS?

I would be curious to know how ASE+Linux performs locally for you, without
the network. Also, are there options to increase "network memory" along the
lines Mr. Peppler suggested?

Your question would probably be best answered by Sybase, but we might be
able to help you define the issues.
