Title: Re: [Community_studios] Ideas Challenge
Hello all,
I am feeling a bit ignorant as to what exactly Open Studios expects to accomplish, so I just may need to have a deep look at http://www.studioforrecording.org/bdmantoc.html .

I would like to ask for a few quick answers to these questions:
Are there any differences between "Open Studios" and "Studio for Recording" project(s)?
What are the major goals of the project(s)?
Is it to replenish the public domain?
Is it to have a studio available to those that may not be able to afford studio services?
Is it to compete with the RIAA?
What are some major things that may resist the goals from being met?

I would also like to ask the artists out there, what do you expect from the project... or what do you do with your recordings?  Have you been able to utilize the project?  If so, what did / didn't you get that you were or weren't expecting?

A suggestion I have is monthly meetings, where as many of us as possible can get together and just talk, hear and share ideas.  Need not specify a topic for each meeting, just a time & place...  What do you guys think?

I also mentioned my Website a while back, which is still under construction.  It is a site dedicated to local artists and venues. http://jeffshippen.homelinux.com/renobands/
Just last night I thought of adding a "services" page to my site, which will include a link and description to Open Studios.  Another feature in the services page will be an offer of free Web hosting to local artists, provided by myself.

Hi, Everyone: Today marks a new chapter for Open Studios. Time for all
the lurkers, and everyone in general, to step up and throw some ideas
out for discussion.

For starters, please note that from now on, all messages sent from me,
will have the reply-to address filled in as
community_studios AT lists.ibiblio.org

If you have a private message, you'll need to edit this field, or have
it show up in the list archive. This step is designed to facilitate
open and frank discussion for all participants/volunteers.

I need your ideas on what we should focus on to make Open Studios
successful, prosperous, and able to convince the IRS that we deserve to
be a charitable organization. Any and all ideas welcome.

I will be working full-time on Open Studios and SONG STORM from here on
out, so the challenge is to make me work! Can you do it?
Hoping to hear from all of you, soon.
Tom
