All Day Records, Carrboro

All Day Records is a new/forthcoming record store in Carrboro, on Main
St, next to Acme & the OCSC. It used to be the mystery bar called Bert's
Smoke Shop. Chuck Johnson & Zeke Graves have both recorded many
different types of music under a variety of aliases; in this context,
they'll be playing traditional fingerstyle guitar (a la John Fahey,
etc).

was an excellent show. Zeke Graves played a series of amazing pedal steel songs, ending with a couple of great, deep acoustic folk tunes. I gather he's been doing a bunch of stuff around CH for a while now but to my shame I long since stopped paying attention so he was a nice surprise. Chuck was marvelous - brilliantly intricate, spiritual "American primitive" guitar that gets you lost and found at the same time. Chuck mentioned he has songs on the Beyond Berkeley Guitar comp from Tompkins Square: http://www.tompkinssquare.com/archives/53, and is working on his own cd of his guitar stuff. He and Zeke and Yuxtapongo Neill are starting a short East Coast tour of electronica performances; I think I heard they're gonna end up at Nightlight next Saturday. I had to leave before the last act because I'm old/live in Raleigh/hiked 11 miles at Raven Rock earlier that day (take your pick), but I'm really glad I caught this on Ross' list and looped around Carrboro on the way home. Thanks to Ethan et al for setting it up; it was a total treat.

todd All Day is still looking empty but it sure was a nice little space to hear some guitar morman
