I find this both sorta sad and inevitable. It all started with Dan Nichols
and Sonny Shields of the Olskies back in the day. They found the house in the
Village Advocate or something, and after touring the place (it was $650 or so
back in 1992), Pi Huse said, "There's one thing you should know, and I hope
it doesn't bother you, but there may be some noise as the neighbor next door
has a lot of dogs!"
Clearly, this was an opportunity sent from the gods, and they moved in. The
musical legacy should continue at all possible. I first visited the place in
1991 and moved down from Indianapolis the following year. I moved to the
house next door and when my friends decided to move to Five Points, the house
was lucky enough to have Rossi show up, tour the place, and take advantage of
it.
I recorded our band Trophy Wife there as well as the Somnambulist Project,
and John Thursday also recorded there way back in the day. I miss the place,
but alas, grew up a bit.
Be aware that heating and cooling expenses are huge, because the place is,
well, huge. Also, mowing the lawn is an event in and of itself!
