I bought two iRiver H10s from Woot! ($129 each) and have not had a single
complaint about the device. Long play time, can be recharged by outlet or
USB, built in FM tuner, and recorder. Also, it is computer agnostic as it
can act as a USB connected storage device.

Haven't found a way to program it to play vorbis-created tracks, yet.
