I recently reviewed a Warner Bros release for a online publication- WB said they'd send a promo, but as the release date neared, no promo was forthcoming. So I worked from a leak. Review ran on the official release day. Amusingly, I got my package from Warners the very same day, like they were figuring, "online mag, no lead time needed", and carefully allowed it to leave the mailroom at a specified moment. It came in a 12x12" box, and I was a giddy that they may have sent me the vinyl. Now that's some copy protection I could live with!

Alas, the LP mailer was just there to accommodate a weird rockstar trapper keeper with all the lyrics printed on colored cardstock- even though the lyrics were in the little booklet that came with the digital-audio-buggywhip.

I'm glad I don't run a tiny label with an unexepectedly kinda-hit-band on it . . . must really fuck with your head, make you start thinking like Sony: http://www.techgnosis.com/chunks.php?sec=journal&cat=noting&file=chunkfrom-2007-09-08-2341-0.txt
