I was once witness to an argument involving a rabid
right-winger who accused someone of being a Trotskyite
because he had quoted an anti-government Thomas
Jefferson line that Trotsky had also supposedly
quoted. Are you quoting Jefferson or quoting Trotsky
quoting Jefferson? Are you quoting Paul Simon being
whistful or quoting Billy Bragg being clever? Or maybe
you're quoting Kirsty MacColl quoting Billy Bragg
cleverly quoting the whistful Paul Simon? Are all of
the libertarians actually Bolsheviks? It gets hard to
tell.
