i've actually received more satellite royalties from Bug. i don't know
that i've ever seen anything from XM or Sirius on my BMI statements.
soundexchange has definitely found way more online stuff than either
Bug or BMI, although both have reported online plays to some extent.
i think that in time BMI and Bug will start to pick up more of the
non-traditional royalties. for now, though, they're just big companies
that are a little slow to adjust to all the new outlets out there.

what i'm really curious about is the gigantic yearly licensing fee that
BMI/ASCAP charges bars, venues, restaurants etc... in theory, it's
some big slush fund that gets distributed, somehow, to all the artists
registered with BMI/ASCAP, based on all kinds of convoluted bullshit.
they succesfully sued the fallout shelter years ago for failure to pay
and were a big reason why the club shut down.
