Wow, Michael and Bono paid you a visit to complain about longboxes? I'm
impressed - I wouldn't have thought they'd have gone to you personally
to make their pitch. I hope you got a picture and an autograph for your
collection. An autographed longbox could be valuable.

Last time I checked, "rock stars" complained openly to the public in the
hopes of convincing the industry how blistering redundant longboxes
were. Putting a cardboard box around an item that already is in itself
a package is stupid. And, honestly, longboxes only existed to shut up
record store owners who complained that they'd have to convert all of
their record-bins to cd-depth, and didn't want to outlay the expense.
It was stupid, the "rock stars" pointed out that it was stupid, and,
thus, longboxes were eliminated.

Drawing a link between jewel cases and longboxes is another stroke of
genius on your part. A jewel case should last the life of the CD, and
won't end up in the landfill until it's broken. A longbox, however,
generally went in the trash about five minutes after the shrinkwrap was
pulled off of it. You have yet to draw a reasonable analogy, and it
makes me smile.

And that crack about R.E.M.? Comedy gold.

Irony is whining about people whining. If you're tired of people
whining to you, why are you whining to us?
