This is a good point. But it's somewhat oversimplified. In many
cases you *can* contact an anonymous/pseudonymous author to ask
questions. And in many cases you *can't* contact a named author to
ask questions.

Another point is that many times the author of a work is anonymous or
pseudonymous, but the publisher or another party is not (and the
publisher/other-party knows the identity of the true author).
