hi,

This discussion about the derivatives and source is quite active (especially considering it was an easter holiday these last 3 days in many countries). It suggests to me that at the very least there seems to be quite a good level of interest in discussing this further with regard to the 4.0 licenses.

I dont want to suggest we stop talking about it here as it is turning into a very interesting debate but given that this list has been nominated as the primary discussion forum for these matters is there a way to carry this forward?

I am already asking for a one-way conversion clause from CC-by-sa to
GPL and from CC-by to zlib.

No. Please. Not if we get proper copyleft protection into BY-SA this
round for things like photos and images in video etc. I don't think the
GPL provides this protection and why would we want to negate the
improvements that we may achieve in BY-SA going forward by letting the
works slip out into the GPL where they will lose that protection? Now,
if the next GPL follows the lead of BY-SA going forwards and gives equal
protection, I am ***ALL*** for joining the silos as this is the one
painful weakness/problem with strong copyleft versions of Free licenses.

all the best,

drew
