The DOS port of MPlayer certainly does.
The version that was available for BL does not.
I had to compile my own static version using SW9, and that only worked
on this machine because I was unable to compile-in CPU detection.
It also runs on my newer machine.
If you remember, I did post it to my website but it failed to run
properly on other people's machines, so I removed it.

The versions of MPlayer you have are not new enough to have .flv and
.mp4 codecs built-in.

No. They are either .flv or .mp4 format.
