I suggest installing the full SW90 glibc and then deleting the parts you don't want (info man doc locale gconv zoneinfo...). You probably need to retain part of zoneinfo (look at BL3 for hints).

Or my SW11libs.tgz instead, which does work (and firelibs.tgz for Firefox and Seamonkey). Somewhat larger but predictable.

I have messed up BL2 to the point where it won't let me log in, and if I chroot to it from BL3 (to try to undo changes) X crashes but I can at least look at the files.

I may also have needed ldso package for SW9.0 GLIBC_PRIVATE not found may involve ld.so.conf.

Steven 'told me so'.

Luckily I have several other installations of BL2 to fix it from.
RAMdisk here, BL3, and BL2 on other computers.

I installed SW11 libraries on top of what I had and it at least now lets me reboot from a failed login with Ctrl-Alt-Del.

'No shadow password for root on tty1'.
There is an /etc/passwd/. root bin sync shutdown halt nobody user
(the original for BL2, Enter key to log in).
At one point my password file with a real password disappeared.
And libc.so.6 (2.3.1) went to 0 length a few times. Very odd.

Reading instructions for ldconfig, which I just ran from BL3.
ldconfig -n /hd/lib should work just on the BL2 lib directory.

Help! I may have fixed everything but the shadow password problem
by installing SW11 glibc libraries.
