Really? You want a 2.6 kernel? The sourcecode
is massive. I would be much more comfortable
with a 2.4 kernel.

What's wrong with Slackware 11 ? It seems to
be a reasonable platform to me.

I like glibc 2.3.6 (Slackware 11).

I like gcc 3.4.6 (Slackware 11).

gtk2 is available in Slackware 11; however,
I still like gtk1. Seamonkey 1.1.19 (gtk1)
was released a few months ago and it is a
nice browser. Very nice. It is significantly
better than Firefox 1.5 (gtk1).

I prefer Seamonkey.

Flash 9 (gtk1) works on a Slackware 11
foundation. So does flash 10 (gtk2).

No need to go to a 2.6 kernel for this.
A 2.4 kernel with glibc 2.3.6 will work.

Really? You want SATA capability on a
minimalistic Linux designed for old PCs?

I've still got no USB hardware, but it does
seem to be popular these days. With a 2.4
kernel, USB compatibility should be pretty
good.

xpdf rotates files. If you right-click on
a document, you will get several useful
options (including rotation).

Lots of old PCs are unable to do framebuffer.
Xvesa is a safer default.
