Slackware 10.1 sata kernel (2.6.10?, 1.25MB) has built-in vesafb, modules
for other fb, usb, sound. Did not test it.

SW11 sata kernel 2.6.33.3 (1.3MB) works with loadlin and vesafb in ext2,
but not with ramdisk BL2 (runs out of input data - no ramdisk support?).

slackware 11.0 (or 10.1) modules are compiled with the same gcc as the
kernel. One large package.

Under kernel/modules I find only config (use it to compile your own modules) not the modules.

SATA README lists several sata kernels

sata.i 1.28MB
bareacpi.i 1.37MB (auto poweroff?)

I will eventually download source code (at the library) for 2.6.33.3 and use SW11 gcc to compile the modules and maybe a smaller kernel (or use the SW11 sata.i config to compile 2.6.21.7 kernel and modules - I think this is the last kernel to not call IDE drives sda).
