Should this line have the "#" (comment marker) in it?    -->     "#ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1"

I looked at the /etc/rc and it did look like what you say.  However, everything I try to do with LINKS comes back with the message "Error  Host Not Found".  I have not tried Telnet or FTP.
