BL3 uses Xvesa, which is slightly different from
a normal Xserver.

That could be a problem, because it changes some
things that Xvesa uses. The best thing is to
start over. Are you running from fs.img on a
DOS partition? Or did you install to HD? If
you are running from fs.img, simply delete fs.img
and unzip bl3-40.zip again. If you are running
from a HD partition, I suggest you run mke2fs
on that partition again and run install-to-hd.

happening (and please don't start installing
extras until we sort things out).
