Hi,
Finally I had time to solve this mistery.

Some months ago I suggested running Yabasic in
Baslinux.
Someone compiled 2 versions:
one old version monochromatic and
one new version with full color support.

The old version runs fine but is limited to
monochromatic graphics (only 2 colors).
This version is in the Add-ons section of the web
page.

The new version runs in text mode, but as soon as
you try to open a graphics window it aborts with an
error about failing to set a font.

Yesterday I tried with others X servers, like frame
buffer X server but failed, also tried the XFree
server
included with Slackware 4.0 same result. I also
installed lots of fonts but got the same result.

Finally I solved the problem by removing the library
libX11.so.6 that comes with BasLinux and replacing it
with the one included in Slackware 4.0
Once you replace that Library, the color version of
Yabasic runs fine with any X server.

So I assume that the libX11.so.6 that comes with
BasLinux is missing some function for querying or
setting fonts.

Yabasic is an excellent and my preferred Basic
interpreter, and I was missing not being able to
use color graphics.

Bye!
-Hermang H.M.M.
