There is a way to do this and information exists in the archive. I recall a
discussion about
it. A chap from some Scandanavian country (I believe) who needed some
alternate key mapping
showed up on the list at one point and gave some pointers about doing this. I
think Sindi
was involved in that discussion and experimented with it. That may be how she
generated her
xmodmap.84 file. I'll have to see if I can recall any possible keywords to
search under.

What does the how-to Steven pointed out have to say about it? I've never
looked at the
how-to myself and have only run across the problem referenced in a testing
scenario or two.
