Which version of BasicLinux are you using?
The floppy version runs on two small ramdisks.
The DOS version runs in a 20mb loop file.

The floppy version does not run on your HD. The DOS
version does not run on your HD (although the loop
file sits on your HD, BasicLinux is confined inside
the loop).
install-to-hd will put BasicLinux on your HD. Then it
will be able to use HD space.

If you ask here, you will usually get the answer you need.
However, you might have to wait 12 hours. Most of us are
probably sleeping when you are awake.
