Your BL2 rosegarden runs on my installation based on BL2. :)
It doesn't "play" MIDIs to my SB16, but I can use timidity as a slave player.

I am still playing with it and haven't yet done much sequencing, but
it does import existing MIDIs and display part of the score. I haven't yet
been able to see more than two staves, and this will be important because I
write at least 9 tracks in my MIDIs. I will play some more.
