Hello,

I installed Basiclinux 3.4 (2 floppies) on my old 486 100MHz with 48MB of ram. I typed
Quote:
/sbin/ifconfig
and I get
Quote:
inet addr:...
127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0.
...
So it looks like it doesn't recognize my hawking ethernet card. I mean, I should get something like 192.168.1.XXX
I typed
Quote:
cat /etc/rc.hd
and get:
Quote:
...
###_ACTIVATE ETHERNET_###
# ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1
....

but that is the address of my router. I tried typing
Quote:
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1
and I get
Quote:
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device

Originally i had DSL 2.3 running by that was too slow. I just want to use my 486 as a print server and maybe an X terminal.
Do I need to load a driver for my ethernet card?

Thanks,
jkooner
