I did some research on m68K (Motorola 680x0 with PMMU) and it is supported by Debian (kernel 2.1 and later), Redhat (5.1), OpenBSD and NetBSD. You can still download NetBSD 1.6.2 binaries, which will boot in 4MB with a custom kernel (not the 1MB generic kernel) but it does better in 8MB RAM, a full install takes 150MB without X (180MB with X). Current version is 2.1. Runs on Mac II, LC II, Performa 400, Qudra 610 Powerbook 140 etc.

ftp://ftp.NetBSD.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-1.6.2/mac68k/INSTALL.txt for
140 screens full of details.

m68k machines have SCSI hard drives and CD-ROM drives, internal serial port, 8390 ethernet, and NetBSD supports the Mac sound (it beeps anyway) and video and mouse and keyboard

PowerPC Macs use a different cpu family. Amiga and Atari use the m68k.

Steven, can busybox be compiled for m68k?
