I upgraded my ext2 BL2 libc to that from SW9.1. The glibcsolibs package
from SW9.1 is only 1MB, and it works with linux 2.2.16. Nothing appears
to have broken; I just used installpkg and was able to continue to use
busybox, links, and ppp, even after rebooting. There is a very large
number of binary packages that will work with this libc.

I once updated glibcso to 8.1 but kept glibc from 7.1 and it made a total mess when I tried to compile. I tried to restore the older glibcso and it would not restore. Ar and some other things stopped working at all, I could not compile, and I had to start all over from scratch.

So I would also upgrade the full glibc to SW91 - is that much bigger than SW81's?

Can I delete libcurl.a?

Yes. You will then be unable to compile static binaries with libcurl,
but very few people actually want to be able to do that.

I can't even figure out how to use curl.
