BL3 busybox has udhcpc, BL2 does not.

BL2 also has a DHCP client:

How would I use EITHER of these to assign an IP address to a network
printer?

These are DHCP clients. You want a DHCP server, assuming that the
printer is a DHCP client. You will find a DHCP server in tcpip2.tgz.
Setup is somewhat complicated; see the DHCP mini-howto.

I already found there dhcpd, 117K. No need for it now since I have manually assigned an IP address via the control panel but it would be educational.

I really need to learn first how to clean paper paths.

In the middle of messing up busybox (and disabling BL2) someone sent me a pdf file which I wish I could have simply printed. xpdf is TOO SLOW.

gs should let me print pdf files 1 page at a time. -dFirstPage=1 -dLastPage=2. I have not yet got gs to work command-line, only with the print filter.

I tried gs -q -dSAFER -sDEVICE=deskjet -r300x300 -sPAPERSIZE=letter -sOutputFile=- - < filename.pdf > /dev/lp0
This did not work. I will try again after I fix the paper jam.

/var/spool/lpd/postscript/deskjet.filter < filename.pdf > /dev/lp0 worked.
(Or something similar to these. I have a script with < $1 > which I use with the filename. printdj filename.)

How would I modify the print filter to let me specify first and last page.
Do I use $2 and $3? -dFirstPage=$2 -dLastPage=$3

Sindi
