No. Every new feature (like USB) makes it bigger.
BasicLinux is meant to be basic, not fully-featured.
I am happy for things like USB to be optional modules
or add-ons.

Would you consider compiling a SW81 or SW91 kernel which is smaller than bare.i, to use where you are stuck with USB (such as when helping a friend, or using a camera) and don't want to put on a second OS besides BL? I could attempt it but it took me a couple of months to even add scsi and sound to the BL2 kernel and SW81 has loads more features to figure out so I can decide not to use them.

I cannot boot from BL floppy disk on this blasted USB-only computer because the keyboard won't work if I do. It gets as far as half a prompt (no C:\) in DOS. Is it possible to make some sort of SW81 USB kernel that will still fit on BL2 or BL3 boot floppy disks?

We might put SW91 on the rest of the 120GB hard drive (Win98 fdisk only recognizes 48GB of it, without flashing the BIOS which we would rather not risk doing wrong). Maybe it will even work with a USB modem. I would rather be able to build onto BL2 with a later kernel though.

Cheers,
Steven
