Hello all,
I have successfully compiled my own MPlayer using glibc.
Probably a newer version than mine (2.2.5).
MPlayer 1.0pre7-3.3.2 (C) 2000-2005 MPlayer TeamIt plays pretty well everything that a normal MPlayer build would
(ogg, mp3, XviD)
So mplayer -vc help prints a lot of different things, including DLLs?
CPU: Intel Pentium III Katmai/Pentium III Xeon Tanner (Family: 6, Stepping: 3)
Detected cache-line size is 32 bytes
CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 0
Compiled with runtime CPU detection - WARNING - this is not optimal!
To get best performance, recompile MPlayer with --disable-runtime-cpudetection.
Yep, I compiled in VESA support :)with the exception that there is currently no X11
video support (and a few other things like no SDL or AAlib, etc.).
AAlib and SDL are not really necessary. But X11 is very handy to have.
Is vesa listed among the "mplayer -vo help" output?
I do consider something like AAlib or libcaca necessary myself. Also, SDL's sound output I find works no matter what, it's quite good.
SDL's sound support seems to work no matter what for me...I'll be working on that and will let the list know as soon as I get
more working.
Same here.
Things that are currently not working but I'd like to work:
X11 video support
SDL sound/video (I doubt this one)
What good is SDL if you have X11? SDL is slower anyway.
Yep. I frequently view movies, etc. over SSH connections so libcaca is a must for me.AAlib or libcaca graphics
For sending ASCII art video to a terminal?
I've been looking at that possibility but I don't feel like recompiling all of my deps for uclibc. The current statically compiled binary size is 7.7MB, uncompressed.
It looks like a switch to uClibc may be necessary to keep the file size
in check (and help with the networking problems).
DavidI'm currently working on libcaca and X11, and quite possibly SDL. X11 is the most important currently, however.
