The SW7.1 bare.i does not support framebuffer and I could not find a SW7.1 kernel which looked like it would, but SW8.1 bare.i does. SW8.1 has a lot fewer (and larger) kernels.

I could NOT find on that same CD any modules for SW8.1 - where might they be?

/slackware/a/kernel-modules-2.4.18......tgz 7.6MB !!!!

Do they really expect anyone to download this monster?
SW7.1 had individual modules.

Someone please remind me how to extract individual modules from the file on CD. I would like to get FB_CON*.o.gz, for instance, along with matroxfb and a few others, without having to unpack it all.

I can use BL2 or BL3 tar.

tar -zxvf ?
